Gridfinity Window Divider with rails - no tape
I remixed Zack Freedman's amazing Gridfinity Window Divider Bin - see his listing for Gridfinity details and which microscope slides to buy. I added a slot so that the microscope slide, well, slides in - no tape required! You can either leave it like that (very sturdy and usable for me) or also print the faceplate. You then slide that on top of the glass (also in rails) and apply a drop of superglue to either side, making the whole thing very sturdy with no tape.
I am new to 3d modeling so the STLs are a bit messy, but printed great for me. Please remix and improve if you can!
The tolerances are tight on this one, so please remix / comment if it seems too tight or loose for you!
**For the faceplate, I printed it upright with supports, so that the thin side bars would be fully vertical (see slicer image for what I mean - it's on the plate in the same orientation it ends up in in the model.) I didn't try any other orientation, might be fine.

Very cool remix — love how you integrated the slot for the microscope slide instead of relying on tape! Makes it look much cleaner and definitely more robust. 🔬🛠️ If anyone’s displaying these Gridfinity bins near a sunny window or workspace, adding residential window tinting Nashville can really help protect delicate prints and slides from UV exposure and glare, plus keep your workspace cooler. Thanks for sharing yo
this thang is still 10x too big after all these years
I was shocked it wasn't a drop in slide from the start when I saw Zack's thanks for this update. I really wanted these but couldn't be convinced so I was going to have to make the slot myself, you saved me that time! Thanks!! 3 compartment version is fine, can get by with that. :)
Added a similar version with no tape and a slightly different take on the header. It requires glue but no supports when printing.

Still seems to be 10x too large
I managed to print the faceplates with a 0.4mm nozzle with no support, in the same orientation that is in your 5th photo. Worked out great.
Didn't work for me. Model is so large, it doesn't fit on the build plate. There must be something wrong with the units.
Oh no! I'll fix, thank you. I think it's 10x too large from Fusion 360.
Can confirm the download is roughly 825mm wide . Edit: Actually, model seems to be exciting strange behavior in my slicer, will likely scrap and remodel the same idea.
Also, sorry I only did this for the 3-compartment version - that's the only style I use, please help make the same version for other window box variants!
