This is an aid for anyone with arthritis or limited hand dexterity to help release a seatbelt (originally designed for someone with gouty arthritis).
It is designed long as some cars have very little space between the seat and the console/armrest. There are two holes in the handle so that a string can be attached providing a way to keep it handy in the car.
Overall dimensions 170mmx30mmx10mm
Printed in PLA although in hot climates PETG or ABS might be a better choice
Download includes Fusion 360 source file

Hi @Hachem! I'm the co-founder of UnbuckleMe, an assistive device for opening kids' car seat buckles for those with arthritis (seen on Shark Tank). We get a lot of people asking if our product works on adult car seat belts, and ours does not. I recently found your design and I'd love to speak with you about making this product commercially available, for those that don't have access to a 3D printer. Are you open to this? My email is becca@unbuckleme.com.
Model is very poorly optimized for 3d printing. Radiuses should never be used on the side facing the print bed, they will cause warping. Sharp corners on the plunger top, also no good for 3d printing. Horizontal holes also not good for 3d printing. For such a simple part, I'm actually surprised at how poorly it is designed. Ended up using the file for reference dimensions then just redesigning the entire thing so it will actually print well. 3/5, good intentions but please try to use logic.
I'm sorry you are having trouble printing out the model, if you did indeed print it out that is. My $200 stock Ender printed it fine. No warping, no issues with the holes, no issues with the corners. The entire model (yes, even those 'sharp' corners) is radiused for comfort in the hand, to reduce any chance of snagging or catching on clothing or skin and, on the bed side, to reduce elephants foot. They don't cause warping. Comments and feedback are appreciated, just don't be a dick about it.
Well said!
Printed it out and it works great. I wanted to let you know that I downloaded the Fusion 360 design and changed grip to be sort of a half-circle design to make it easier for those with issues with hand strength and dexterity. I wanted to create a "remix" of this model, but looks like you haven't given that permission. Any issue with me uploading my version? I want to give you credit for the original design.
Not at all. Appreciate you asking. I'll see if I can figure out how to change the license. The other thing that could be useful is a shorter version for seatbelts that aren't so far down
Would you ever consider making this commercial under the license? I work in a small non-profit and would love to include this model in a kit we are putting together for individuals leaving a rehabilitation center. Thank you!
Sorry I didn't see this comment until now. That would be fine..I'll see if I can figure out how to change the license
