Alien Lamps
Alien Lamps is a modular table lamp design inspired by space aesthetics and small rocket-like forms. This second version evolves from the original recycling-based concept, where fruit and vegetable plastic nets were reused to create colorful light effects. In this new iteration, those nets are replaced by 3D printed diffusers, expanding even further the possibilities for color combinations, light control, and visual consistency.
The lamp is available in two different sizes, and each size is composed of three printable parts: the base, the alien body, and the diffuser. The diffuser becomes the key element of the design, allowing you to experiment freely with translucent or white filaments to create soft, ambient lighting. By mixing different alien colors and combining bases of different tones, you can generate multiple variations from the same system.
Thanks to its modular nature, Alien Lamps can also be stacked or combined to create different heights and compositions. The overall silhouette references rockets and extraterrestrial objects, giving the lamp a playful yet futuristic character that works both as a functional light source and as a decorative object.
How to Print Alien Lamps is designed to be easy to print and assemble. All parts are printed separately. The base is the only component that requires supports, while the alien body and the diffuser are support-free. A layer height of 0.2 mm and around 20% infill work well for all parts. For the diffuser and the alien body, it is recommended to use translucent filaments or white PLA to allow the light to pass through and enhance the glow effect. The base can be printed in any opaque color for contrast and stability. Once printed, the three parts fit together to form the complete lamp, ready to house your light source and create unique lighting effects depending on your material and color choices.
