Square Flange, One Inch Wood Dowel
This square furniture flange was designed as a structural connector for modular or custom furniture assemblies. The part shown was printed using Inland 1.75 mm Tough PLA, chosen for its improved impact resistance and flexibility compared to standard PLA. The design is intended for light to moderate load applications such as kitchen stands, shelving frames, or utility furniture where a stable connection between components is required.
The flange includes mounting holes sized for M6 fasteners and a central opening designed to accept a wood dowel for alignment and load distribution. The geometry allows the dowel and fasteners to work together to reduce movement at the joint while maintaining a compact footprint.
This model is not intended to be uniformly scaled. Scaling changes the relationship between the fastener holes and the dowel opening, which can lead to improper fit or reduced strength. If alternate dimensions are required, modifying the model geometry directly is recommended.
The part should be printed flat on the build plate as oriented in the provided layout. When printed in Tough PLA or PLA plus, two perimeter walls are sufficient for normal use. The side walls surrounding the dowel opening are intentionally angled to reduce stress concentration at the transition between the flange base and the vertical walls, helping prevent cracking at that junction during use.
