Gear Blob Fidget Toy
Hey, I happened to come across this one randomly while prototyping something different. I thought this was already cool enough to publish.
You need: 1 Heart 14 Connectors 6 Square Pieces 8 Triangle Pieces The tool is optional. I did include an "All" File. You can find all the parts you need on there.
Print Settings: Standard. No supports. You may need to use a brim.
Assembly: I did make a Video how to https://youtu.be/mLEF2qq6oKA. It's simple. First, push the connectors into the Heart. Then push the Square Gears that have a little Square on the bottom on the Square Faces of the Gear. Do the same for the Triangle Gears, but with the Triangle Pieces of the Heart.
Troubleshooting: If your Gears are too loose or to tight watch this Video: https://youtu.be/PWUoJc_Gc84.
If your connectors break, try experimenting with how many walls you print. I usually print 2 walls, but try different amounts to see if it gets better. You can also try to print them with another spool or even another Plastic. PETG works quite well.
Technical Data: The Gear Blob takes, around 100g of Filament and 4,5 hours to print.
The Filament I used in the Pictures is: Green Protopasta Seafoam Green. Blue Protopasta Tidal Turquoise.

Is there a guide to how to place the triangles with relation to the square pieces? I am not sure how to place the shapes to have it match the design.
Hey, the Video is liked above.
The square gears and triangle gears seem to have identical geometry other than the small square or triangle identifier on the bottom. Is that correct?
No. The inserts for the Gears are differently spaced. I could have made them equal, but that would have killed the standardization I have going on.
