Medieval Dragon Book Box

Unleash the guardian of your secrets with this Medieval Dragon Book Box. Featuring a Celtic knot-work motif and a coiled dragon in a powerful stance, this box evokes the mystique of ancient tomes and forgotten magic. The sculpted lid is rich with texture and medieval fantasy detail, ideal for fans of dragons, mythology, or gothic decor. Perfect for storing dice, trinkets, or keepsakes.

  • Designed for easy painting.
  • Ideal for fantasy-themed decor, gifts, or collectors.

Material: High-quality PLA or PETG filament. I use Bambu PLA Matt.

Print Settings: Supports: None needed. Ignore any slicer warnings about supports. Infill: 5%-15% (can be reduced if desired). Print Orientation: Print in place, as shown in the image. Size: Do not resize. For custom sizing, please contact me.

Assembly Requirements: Magnets: Two 10mm x 2mm magnets are needed to secure the box and book cover. Glue: Apply glue to affix the magnets in the slots provided and glue the box to the bottom cover.

Book Box internal height 33mm.

Assembly Instructions: Paint First: Paint all parts before assembly for the best finish. Attach Magnets: Use super glue to secure the magnets in place. Glue the Box: Apply wood glue to attach the box to the bottom book cover. Secure with Tape: After gluing, close the lid and wrap the entire book with masking tape to hold it firmly while drying.

Allow to dry completely before handling.

Please Note: This model has only been tested on a Bambu Lab P1S. If you're experiencing any issues using a different printer, feel free to reach out.

I normally rely on silk filaments when I want drama, but in this case I used an unremarkable non-silk and got all the drama I could want. Unless I hold it directly beneath and exactly perpendicular to the incoming light, this print creates lots of lovely shadow.
Made as simple decoration for my room, so I cut most of the box away (sorry, I am sure it'd look even better that way!).

Looks great on the shelf.

Great Design. How did you paint it to get the 'tinted' look. I did mine in Gold Silk. I would like the dragon to stand out from the background.

Hi! I started with a dark undercoat and layered lighter paint colors on top. For the lighter shade, I mixed green with a bit of white. The thin line in the eye was painted using pure white to make it stand out.

Hello! Beautiful art—kinda gives me a Book of Kells vibe. I don't have much experience with prints like this; could you tell me whether reducing the layer height would be likely to cause a problem with articualtion/fit? (Since I don't paint, I tend to prefer smaller layer heights on decorative things.)

Hi, Reducing the layer height won’t cause any issues at all with articulation or fit for this model. Using a finer layer height (like 0.12 mm or 0.08 mm) will enhance the surface detail without affecting function. It’s a great choice if you’re not painting and want those sharp carved textures to really shine right off the printer.
