Griffon’s Gate Custom Book Box – Fantasy Book Box with Replaceable Image Window

The Griffon’s Gate Custom Book Box is a 3D printable fantasy-style book box designed with a central rectangular window that allows makers to add, swap, or customize their own artwork.

The front cover features ornate fantasy relief details inspired by classic mythical tomes, while the middle recessed rectangle is intentionally left open for personalization. Makers can insert printed artwork, illustrations, photos, maps, or themed designs to create a completely unique book box every time.

Material: High-quality PLA or PETG filament. I use Bambu PLA Matt.

Print Settings: Supports: None needed. Ignore any slicer warnings about supports. Infill: 5%-15% (can be reduced if desired). Print Orientation: Print in place, as shown in the images. Size: Do not resize. For custom sizing, please contact me.

Assembly Requirements: Magnets: Two 10mm x 2mm magnets are needed to secure the box and book cover. Glue: Apply glue to affix the magnets in the slots provided and glue the box to the bottom cover.

Assembly Instructions: Paint First: Paint all parts before assembly for the best finish. Attach Magnets: Use super glue to secure the magnets in place. Glue the Box: Apply wood glue to attach the box to the bottom book cover. Secure with Tape: After gluing, close the lid and wrap the entire book with masking tape to hold it firmly while drying.

Allow to dry completely before handling.

Please Note: This model has only been tested on a Bambu Lab P1S. If you're experiencing any issues using a different printer, feel free to reach out.

Paint Tip: For most of my painted models, I start by applying a thin coat of UV resin to seal the surface, followed by a spray primer as the undercoat. I rarely use water when painting only lightly dampening the brush and wiping off excess on a paper towel. Highlights are added using dry brushing to bring out raised details. I finish off with a mat or satin water based varnish.

For the center image inlay, I lightly burned the edges and used dry brushing to create an aged, weathered look. The final photo shows the physical printed book box, with AI used only for the photo-shoot and scene styling.
