Due to the success of my Mounted Trash Bin, I've created this standalone version. It's a large trashcan that prints in several parts optimized for 3D printing, with plenty of variations and optional additions for total customization!

Printing & Assembly

Due to the optimized design, you can print most of these parts using default print settings. Nearly all the parts print without supports, but the new Locking Inner Rim requires support generation for a long bridge to allow for the improved lid flap.

Here is a description of the various parts:

  • Lid_Locking : The lid of the trashcan, which snaps into place when fully opened for one handed operation. Print with 4 shells/perimeters for a hinge longevity.
  • Top_Rim_Inner_Locking : Snap the Lid into this part. Enable Supports!
  • Top_Rim_Inner_Locking_Loose (optional) : A looser version of the Inner Rim, useful for thicker trashbags or less precise printing. Enable Supports!
  • Top_Rim_Outer : This is the part you wrap the top of your trash bag around, which is then sandwiched into place with the Inner Rim. There is an oval notch on the front of both the Inner and Outer Rim. Make sure they're oriented the same way!
  • Lid_OG (optional) : The original version of the lid, without a flap on the front, and doesn't lock in the open position
  • Top_Rim_Inner_OG (optional) : Only use with Lid_OG
  • Corner_Post : The four vertical posts that connect the Top and Bottom Rims. I would suggest 4+ perimeters/shells for strength. Print 4. Align with the channels on the Bottom_Rim and snap all 4 into place. Then set the Top_Rim_Outer onto the four posts and press each corner straight down to snap into place.
  • Bottom_Tray (optional) : This tray rests inside the Bottom_Rim to support the bottom of the trash bag. Useful if you're throwing away heavy things that might rip the bag if unsupported.
  • Bottom_Tray_Deep (optional) : Another version of the bottom tray with higher walls. Usefull if you are tossing things that might leak.
  • Foot_TPU (optional) : Small feet to be printed with TPU or another flexible filament. These are simply glued to the corners of the bottom of the Outer_Rim to add a cushion between bin and floor, for protection and non-slip.
  • Walls_Plain (optional) : Conceal the trash bag and keep it from bulging out if it's larger than the bin. Print in vase mode with 0.6mm extrusion width and 0 top/bottom solid layers.
  • Walls_Fluted _(optional) : Same as Walls_Plain but with a fluted texture that adds a bit of strength and decorative appearance. More likely to warp from filament shrinkage while printing!

Yes, it's a lot of parts, but the result is a nice, large, super functional trashcan that you can customize to your needs! Leave a comment if you have any questions or requests and I'll respond ASAP!

  • Nov 2, 2025 Update : Added an 'ExtraFlex' version of the Corner Posts, which makes it easier to take apart and put together over and over.

Photographed model was printing with various PLA filaments on the Qidi Plus4 (Also on Amazon)
