Would it not be best to make the top section flush with the shelf area and then print this shelf area down? That would put the layer lines parallel to the load and increase overall strength significantly no? Also it would allow shelf surface (wood plank etc) to sit flush with the wall rather than out a bit.

In the force analysis I conducted in Fusion, the loads are distributed, and there isn't any point where the stress is greater. Additionally, this bracket was designed to be used either supporting the load or "holding" the load. I will include a photo showing how I am using the bracket to hold a lamp. I will design a new version incorporating your suggestion about aligning the shelf with the wall.
