No more compromising between a travel chess set that is too small to play with and a full size set that is too bulky to bring with you. This chess set is the best of both worlds, offering a comfortably sized playing experience while still being able to pack down to a tiny size...and these pieces are super fun to play with...like, on their own...not just in a game.
This set is completely print-in-place, which means it does not need support, assembly or complex post processing. Just print the pieces with the appropriate settings, split them at the seams (details in the “Post Processing” images), and pop them out to full size.
Each piece has up to 9 independent moving parts that are designed to remain captive, so the pieces won’t disassemble when traveling. The act of extending the pieces wedges the tapered shells together, providing a friction fit that keeps them in the standing position and should compensate for the differences of various printers. All of the two-tiered pieces collapse down to a disk of 25 x 20mm and the pawns to a disk of 20 x 15mm (diameter x height). Each piece on average prints using under 5g of filament.
Included is a simple case that can hold half the pieces. It also prints without support or post processing. It is designed for half the set so you can print them in different colors to match the pieces. It is composed of two main parts and two spring-like clips.

Print Settings
The tolerances should be high enough to print successfully with a wide variety of 3d printers and materials, but It is super important to have good surface quality (no blobs or zits) and good retraction settings. Bed adhesion is also very important.
If printed properly, the post processing is really quick and easy, just follow the attached “Post Processing” instruction images.
