GIFT BOX #23 - Print-in-Place
Gift Box #23 This is my fifth season making these gift boxes. They all may look the same from the outside, but each one has a different secret way of opening.
This is the print-in-place version of the twenty third gift box in a series of gift boxes that may all look the same on the outside but each has a different secret way of opening. I you would rather print the multi-part/color version, it can be found here. Or find the entire collection of my boxes here.
To unlock this box, you turn the very center of the bow. used square gears to drive the locking mechanism. It prints without support because some clever bridging and those four posts around the sun gear. When you turn the center of the bow 45 degrees, it rotates the gears unlocking the corner gears from the box allowing the top to be removed.
Its roughly 100mm x 100m x 80mm tall. The top prints in place as one part with no supports, designed for a .4mm nozzle. The bow also prints in place separately from the top and are then glued together. The top and bottom ribbons are also printed separately and are glued on. I suggest using Starbond Medium CA Glue(aff.) I printed all the parts in the orientation the stl’s are provided in. I added pre-built-in helper discs on the corners.
Printed on the Prusa Core One(aff.)
Other Gift Boxes You can find the previous year’s gift boxes in the Puzzle Present Collection.
