Updated MagSafe holder clamps

It's been about one month since we published our MagSafe holder clamps and we've been busy improving the design based on feedback and results from our own tests ✔️.

Today we've finally shared the most recent version, which includes many new features that we think make it a great option for anyone looking for a good phone stand.

1 - We made it compatible with the 2024 MagSafe charger

Apple released an improved MagSafe charger model in September 🍎.

The new puck is slightly smaller and thinner, so it sits very loose on the holder for the previous model. Now, an additional version of the holder is available in the download files. It is designed to fit the new puck like a glove.

2 - There are 6 different clamp versions available

We know there are many different desk setups out there 🖥️. People have desk shelves of different thicknesses, placed at different distances from the edge of the desk, and they also have different preferences about the viewing angle they want for their phone stands.

This is why we have included a total of 6 versions of the clamp so you can select the one you need.

Fixing the mess with clamp sizes and holder variants

For a couple of weeks, it was kind of a mess. You needed to match the correct holder variant with the right clamp size, and people risked printing something they wouldn't use.

With all these new clamps we decided to fix that, so they all fit both versions of the holder, so you don't need to worry about compatibility when deciding which one to print 😉.

3 - The accent piece is now magnetic 🧲

What is better than a magnetic attachment for a MagSafe holder?

The clicking sound is just so satisfying, but it also simplifies replacing the front accent piece. In any case, the magnets are optional: the new design is still compatible with the old accent piece with a snap-fit tab used to lock it in place (it is still available in the download files).

4 - Other minor improvements we didn't tell you about here

Screw types and lengths

We added two different screw types, with short and long variants for each one. Combined with the 6 clamp variants, there is a lot of flexibility to print a clamp that will fit in your setup.

Fixed (reduced) minor printing artifacts

The original holder design showed some issues similar to the infamous Benchy Hull line. We minimized that by changing the geometry of the holder, adding a groove around the edges so the change from infill to top layers wasn't so sudden.
