I turn Japan's real Pokémon "PokéLid" manhole covers — the beautiful illustrated plates set into sidewalks in towns across the country — into Color-By-Numbers display plates. Each prints as clean two-tone line art; you paint it in by number (by hand or with a multicolor printer) and stand it up to display. Part treasure hunt, part nostalgia, part relaxing craft — and the collection grows as I work through Japan one town at a time.
