**Spinny Succulents** - _Beginner_
I've designed a bunch of functional plants in the past. But this time around I wanted to do something that's just for fun, that still will look great on a desk, shelf, counter etc. These Spinny Succulents were perfect to do just that. **But how do they work?**
The Succulents press onto a fidget switch bearing, which sits inside the pot. This allows you to spin the succulent super fast! You can get it to spin like crazy by blowing on one side of the succulent. Just be careful it can spin super fast.

**Quick and Easy Printing**
This print is super fast, and super easy. Nothing takes more than a few hours to print. And they use up very little filament. Make sure you print with supports and 100% infill for a strong succulent.

**ATEEZ Wool Spinner**
Due to numerous requests, I have followed up the popular SKZ spinner with an ATEEZ equivalent!

**How do you use it?**
The spinner prints in 2 halves then sits on top of each other - allowing it to spin freely and smoothly

**Quick and Easy Printing**
This print is super fast, and super easy. Nothing takes more than a few hours to print. And they use up very little filament. A multi-color printer is not required.

Yarn cake spinning wrist holder inspired by a button.
Extras you will need: swivel lobster clasp and strap of some kind.
The shank slots into the middle of the button, add the yarn cake then attach a swivel lobster clasp and I'm going to use a knitted I cord to let it spin easily on my wrist. Photos will be updated when the clasps arrive, I'm also going to try this with rainbow filament for a layered effect and I will print them separately. 
Optional refinement: print the button separate from the shank and use Archimedean chords for the top and bottom surface.

An elegant top that spins well and makes beautiful patterns as it spins.

This is delicate. There's no way to design a top that spins well and can survive rough play when printed in PLA. The stem will break in seconds. See “Playing with Your Top" below.

**Note:** My PrusaSlicer project file and GCODE both use GCODE to reduce print temp gradually down to 185C. If that doesn't work for your filament/printer, print at your normal temp and increase the cooling. I tried shifting “Slow down if print time is below” from the default 10 to just 1 with a similar top and the handle printed beautifully at 200C.

**Print Settings**

- If you plan to give the top to a child or anyone else who will be rough with it, print it in a RUGGED MATERIAL. Do not use PLA.
- Arrange the two halves of the top so the ring is on the build plate and the pointy part faces up.
- Print the top SOLID. Either give it 12 perimeters or print with 100% infill. It needs the mass both for strength and to spin well.
- Print external Perimeters first.
- Best results with 0.1mm layer height.
- I recommend using a brim or supports for better build plate adhesion.

I have included my PrusaSlicer project file (3MF) and GCODE for a Prusa MK3S+ printer. Yes, they are set for PLA. That's all I have and, hey, I'm gentle. I rarely break tops.

I've included an STL of the top as a single piece just in case you want to print it that way or cut it at a different point.

**Assembling Your Top**

Just add a few drops of superglue to one half, line up the patterns on the two halves, and press them together. Use the index fingers and thumbs of both hands to hold the ring at 4 points to align the halves in the X-Y plane.

If you line up the halves well and the handle still appears to wobble as it spins, look at the tip. Tops spin best if the tip is a sharp, even point. If there's any irregularity, just take a hobby knife and shave the tip. Do a little, test spin it, then do a little more.

**Playing with Your Top**

1. Hold it near the top of the stem.
2. Place the tip of the top ON THE TABLETOP. 
3. Give the top a GENTLE spin WHILE IT IS STILL IN CONTACT WITH THE TABLE.

DO NOT SPIN THE TOP IN THE AIR AND DROP IN ONTO THE TABLE. This will not make it more stable. It will make it more BROKEN. To make it spin smoothly, be gentle, not wild.

You will not need supports elsewhere, but you might get small areas of print fail in some of the unavoidable overhangs within the knit geometry. These can be removed easily with a file if you wish.

You will need two Part 2s and two Part 4s. Screw each Part 2 into Part 1 and Part 3, then attach Part 4 onto Part 2s.

Double Yarn Holder

This project is for those that have a need to spin yarn into a tightly meshed ball so that the yarn can be neatly stored or used.  There are inexpensive manual yarn winders for this spinning purpose.  These winders typically have a handle for the user to rotate to spin the yarn and cost typically US$20-30.  Powered winders are also available, but at a much higher price of US$300-600.

My project creates an electrically powered yarn winder.  The electric winder sources some parts from a manual winder, adds an electric motor, all combined with custom designed 3D printed parts and power by USB-C.

I welcome those wishing to reproduce my yarn spinner as I built it.  I do warn, this project is for an experienced builder.  The following skills will be required:
- Ability to cut steel
- Ability to source like components.
- Ability to 3D print my designed parts.
- Ability to solder electrical wires.

Parts List:
- Yarn spinner (for parts)
- 3D printed parts.
- RS445-ST/18140/DV DC motor with 14 pins fitted gear.
- MT3608 DC-DC inverter module.
- 5mm 40mm bolt, washers and 2 nuts.
- 6mm 20mm bolt, washers and 2 nuts.
- Toggle switch SPST
- USB-C panel mount socket.
- Potentiometer 20KOhm, panel mount.
- Resistor 10 Ohm, 0.25W
- 5V LED indicator
- 6mm knob
- Electrical wire, typically 22awg.

To get sufficient torque from the electric motor, gears are used.  The two motor drive gears provide a ratio of about 3:1, transforming surplus speed into extra torque.

The DC motor I used is a salvaged RS445-ST/18140/DV motor with a metal gear with 14 teeth. Ø=34mm x 52mm and weighs about 90g.  These motors can be purchased new or used for around US$10.

The electric motor is a nominal 12V DC.  I control the motor speed by starting with 5V from a USB source and via a buck inverter (MT3608), vary the voltage from 5 to around 12V.  The motor typical is running at 3-4W of power, hence a simple 5W USB plug pack can comfortably power the unit.

My print is made with eSUN PLA+ 1.75mm red filament, with 0.2mm layer height and 15% infill on a Bambu X1 Carbon printer. See 3MF for brim advice.  Supports are not required, but can improve the finish of some parts.
