UPDATE: One of our members brought to my attention that the file for the blades was acting funny, I think this is from the bevel I had on the ends causing the file to kinda bug out. I am uploading a blades version 2 file that should resolve the issue. Make sure when you have it in the slicer that you select the logo side to be on the bed. Let me know if you have any issues, and thanks for downloading the Bright Saber!
Here it is folks, all your dreams have come true! This is my design of an expanding lightsaber inspired by a lego lightsaber and it LIGHTS UP!! My main goal for this was to make something that uses zero supports and a flashlight that is inexpensive and easy to find. I bought these flashlights from Harbor Freight for $2.99 for a pack of two flashlights. The expanding blades are easily replaceable and exchangeable, I personally like the glow in the dark blades! I used basic PLA for all of the blades and the light is very bright though all that I have tried. I did a few blades and swapped pieces to make Christmas Sabers and they are AWESOME! Please share your makes so I can see what colors you choose!
All files should load in the proper printing orientation, but in case they don't please follow these recommendations,
The Handle - Print in the orientation of the threads pointing up away from the bed, no supports, 15% infill gyroid pattern.
The flashlight guide - Print in the orientation of the threads pointing away from the bed, no supports, use a brim, 15% or 10% infill, gyroid pattern
The bottom cap, print with the bottom side against the plate, no supports, no brim, 15% infill gyroid pattern
The blades - Print with the flat part of the smallest blade against the build plate, 100 Infill no supports, brim optional. (no vase mode)
