Last week I published a concept level for gear pathing maze and we got over 500 downloads proving that you all enjoy the concept and a good brainteaser!

During this week I redesigned every single part of the design to have it even better and optimized for printing!

The idea of this maze is to connect both side gears by using all of the gears in a connected loop. Not a single gear can be left un connected or lead to a “dead end”. I have attached a photo showing what’s allowed and what counts as breaking the rules of the puzzle.

**A little more about the design**

I designed the new base to be the same for all the puzzle levels that I will develop in the future - you will only have to print a single base and for each additional level you will have to print an “insert plate” that fits inside the base and has blockers limiting the board. This way you save material and time as the “insert plate” takes a fraction of time and material compared to the base part.

Gear Pathing maze Puzzle 1

If you love puzzles, this one is definitely for you - a heart shaped stand puzzle made from classic tetris pieces. Connected with plugs, this will be a challenge for you to put it together. A video tutorial is in the making to help the ones who just want to put it together without too much trouble.

Model dimensions when it is put together is 7.87 inches (20 cm) Height | Base size is 5.31 inches (13.5 cm) * 2.95 inches (7.5 cm)

To complete the puzzle you will need the following amounts of each shape:

If you like fidget toys and mazes, then the Fidget Sphere is just the thing for you! A sphere with paths for the pin to move through in any direction you want. This sphere was the base for my Sphere Maze design that has blockers on the path.

It is rather quick print with just over 1 hour of total print time. No glue or bolts are required for assembly, just print the connector piece an click the parts together.

Vortex Balance Sphere fidget spinner

I used to love these kinds of puzzles where you have a set number of pieces and you have to assemble them into an object. But now, 3D printing enables me to create my own versions of this brian teaser. I have uploaded 5 different puzzles each making a sphere once assembled. 

This is Sphere Puzzle nr 1. It is made from 7 pieces, but don’t let yourself think that it will be a very simple solution. It will give you a challenge, but that’s the fun part.

This Sphere puzzle takes 3 hours of total print time and uses 34 meters of material (based on printing on default settings of Bambu Lab P1P printer).

Due to the nature of the pieces, some of them will require supports, however, the supported areas are all flat and it’s easy to remove the supports. (I used organic tree supports with 0.1mm distance from the top and with max bridge length of 1 mm).
