CELEBRATE WORLD OTTER DAY! 5/29/24

In the early 1900s, sea otters were hunted nearly to extinction (only about 2000 left in the wild) for their fur. Thankfully, due to conservation efforts, there are over 100,000 sea otters worldwide - but they are still considered and endangered species, with oil spills and nets posing a threat to them today.

Sea otters hold hands while they're sleeping so they don't drift apart. When they are still a baby (called a pup) they will ride on their mom's belly so they don't drift away. When the mom goes hunting, they will wrap their pup in seaweed to hide it from predators and to keep it from floating away!

Celebrate sea otters worldwide by raising awareness and printing yourself a pair of hand-holding (more like paw/arm wrapping) sea otters to remind yourself of sea life conservation efforts - and also because they are just so darn cute!
