This model was designed in Autodesk Fusion 360 for the Product Design Online #Gift 3D modeling challenge. In addition to the main design challenge, Kevin Kennedy of Product Design Online issued an additional challenge to anyone wanting to develop their 3D modeling abilities even more; create a unique 3D model each day for the last seven days of the main challenge’s timeframe. This is the model that I designed for Day 2 of this mini challenge.

This two-part cookie cutter is styled to look like the Thangs logo. The cookie cutter is intended to be used as follows: Press the edge cutter into the dough to cut the main shape. Next, with the edge cutter still in place, fit the design press into the edge cutter and apply moderate pressure to deboss the logo into the face of the cookie. Lastly, remove the edge cutter and then the design press. Following this order should provide the best results.

Adding this to your collection of cookie cutters will give your Christmas cookies a little maker flair. The model is designed to be printed without any supports. Both parts of the cookie cutter incorporate the appropriate edge geometry to ensure that the model will print cleanly and prevent “elephant’s foot” first-layer expansion. This, in addition to the tolerance between the two parts, allows for a smooth fit, while keeping it tight enough to not allow cookie dough to squeeze out between the parts.
