A Promise To Our Multiboard Community

Hey Makers!

Today marks Multiboard’s two-year anniversary 🎂🎉, and it felt like the right moment to lock in what this wonderful project and community stands for long-term.

From almost the beginning, individual Multiboard parts have been free, with some packs and generators as paid options.

So with that said, you might be suspicious of our intentions, and we get that. Because technically, we could change our minds and make all the parts paid forever.

But we would never do that, and we don’t want that uncertainty to exist in our community.

So to guarantee that will never happen, we broke the mould again and made a legally binding Community Promise to protect Multiboard’s future.

In summary:

• All Core and Advanced (functional) Parts must become free for personal use within 6 months of release (we may release parts as paid early access).
• This does NOT include Cosmetic Parts, Branded Parts, Packs, and Generators. These don’t have to be free.
• If Multiboard LTD fails to release required parts for free on time and does not fix it within 30 days of a notice (as we are only human and something could slip through the cracks), the entire Multiboard project automatically becomes public domain under CC0, permanently.

PPS: we’ve made a small update to the Multiboard Licence to improve clarity and prevent the sale of injection-moulded Multiboard parts. This helps stop bad-actor companies from producing rip-offs of Multiboard and community remixes, and supports our ability to scale Multiboard in the near future: Multiboard License
