I was really interested to give this a try after I printed the test keyring. Unfortunately, 8 panels (I'd need 32 for the size board I want) was going to cost 612g of filament and 3days 5hours. The same area of 8 panels of honycomb wall, sliced with the same profile, was only going to cost 437g filament, and a few minutes less than 2 days.
I printed 6 of these for my kid's desk as a test. Worked great. We have all their school supplies up on it. I'm about to start printing a new set for my office wall.

On this model, all perimeter edges, including the octagon edges, have an outward protrusion/tab. If you place two core tiles side by side (peg edge against an octagon edge) you end up with protrusion against protrusion, so they do not nest and a small gap remains.
Tiles exported from the Simple Tile Generator (https://www.multiboard.io/generator/tile) give the octagon edges an inward notch/recess, so a peg edge with a protrusion nests cleanly into an octagon edge with a recess.

Beginner here, I have a question on build plate adhesion. Cura adds "brim" as the standard adhesion for this model, or maybe in general, what do I know. My question is, should I use brim or some other setting? Does the tile models require adhesion, and thereby cleanup after each print?
If it's not too late to respond, these tiles are a real test of your printer setup. You can try applying an adhesive to a build plate but I never really had any luck with that on my Ender 3 V2. Now that I'm using a Bambu Labs A1 I use the new Cool Plate SuperTack from Bambu. With it, I don't need a brim. If you go brimless, keep the initial layer very slow (35-40mm/sec), then go faster. Hotter plate, too (add 5-7C to normal temp). Also do a flow rate calibration before!
Anyone have some bambu X1 carbon advice? the "as is" file is "out of bounds" for my printer, and any alterations I know to make has caused failures, I'm 0 for 4 so far. including a melted "gob" of filament that poped open the print head.

Ex. Are the large holes 23.5 mm wide and plastic "ribs/frames" 3mm wide? Lengths of the octagon sides? Diameter of the peg holes?
Also, how thick are the tiles -- 2 mm, 3mm?

On this model, all perimeter edges, including the octagon edges, have an outward protrusion/tab. If you place two core tiles side by side (peg edge against an octagon edge) you end up with protrusion against protrusion, so they do not nest and a small gap remains.
Tiles exported from the Simple Tile Generator (https://www.multiboard.io/generator/tile) give the octagon edges an inward notch/recess, so a peg edge with a protrusion nests cleanly into an octagon edge with a recess.

Beginner here, I have a question on build plate adhesion. Cura adds "brim" as the standard adhesion for this model, or maybe in general, what do I know. My question is, should I use brim or some other setting? Does the tile models require adhesion, and thereby cleanup after each print?
If it's not too late to respond, these tiles are a real test of your printer setup. You can try applying an adhesive to a build plate but I never really had any luck with that on my Ender 3 V2. Now that I'm using a Bambu Labs A1 I use the new Cool Plate SuperTack from Bambu. With it, I don't need a brim. If you go brimless, keep the initial layer very slow (35-40mm/sec), then go faster. Hotter plate, too (add 5-7C to normal temp). Also do a flow rate calibration before!
