Improved Bony Basilisk - Celebrating 1 Year of Snap-Flex

Improved Bony Basilisk - Celebrating 1 Year of Snap-Flex

It’s been 1 YEAR since I uploaded my first Snap-Flex articulated model, so to celebrate I’m re-releasing a REVISED version of the Bony Basilisk for free for a LIMITED TIME!

Bony Basilisk Revamped!

BB_Post.pngBy popular demand, the Bony Basilisk is back with a few improvements.

Snap-Flex V2:

This updated Bony Basilisk uses the newest generation of Snap-Flex joint, improving model strength and durability while reducing the need for multiple tolerances.

If you have difficulty locking or unlocking the joint, WIGGLE the segments side-to side while pushing them together or pulling them apart.  Over time, the joint should naturally relax to the appropriate tightness.

While the wiggle technique was semi-effective with the previous Snap-Flex version, it's EXTRA effective with the new geometry.

Pre-painted Multicolor 3MF & Easy pre-painting:

For Bambu Users: I’ve included a pre-painted multicolor 3MF with all 3 lengths of the Bony Basilisk

Other Slicers:  The STLs for all 3 sizes of Bony Basilisk use separate individual meshes for each tooth and horn, so you can quickly and easily paint these features with a fill tool.

Improved Bed Adhesion:

I received some requests for a version of this model with better bed adhesion, so I made a few tweaks to the geometry to make it easier to print.

  1. I increased surface area on the print bed so each segment should stick more tightly
  2. I reduced the amount of slight overhangs inside of the Snapflex joint and the basilisk’s head in order to minimize the risk of the print head bumping any segment
  3. I reduced the amount of small features on the inside of each segment and the tail in order to slightly improve print time

I’m very excited to hear everyone’s feedback on this improved Snap-Flex joint, and I hope that releasing it for free for a week to celebrate will help me gather more feedback from a larger audience as well.

Every download, like, and make is a HUGE help, so THANK YOU for for your support!!!

Stay Spooky!
