Love this print. I didnt have any brown, so I used Metallic Rainbow Silk PLA for the body, PLA silk white for the horns, burnt titanium for hooves and eyes and Rose Gold dual silk for the nose. Super happy with the 3d print! Only wished my Metallic Rainbow was towards the part of the reel that would have showed more of the gold and copper rather than so much silver, but the file itself, the printablity and putting the pieces together was phenomenal!! Even the supports where the drawer goes in were SUPER easy to remove!! Kudos to the designer on this model!

I made this one over the weekend as a gift from my son for his wife. Her favorite critter is the highland cow, and her favorite color is pink, this is a great combination of those two elements.
I used PrusaSlicer functionality for the fuzzy skin, and variable layer height for the smooth contours on the nose/horns/hooves. A previous post of mine here has info regarding how I changed the print orientation of the nose to get a smooth end result.
A friend of mine requested this after she saw a reel on Facebook.
I printed both versions with a layer height of 0.16 for the body and 0.08 with ironing for the hands feet and nose because I didn't like the abrupt layer changes I could see in the photos.
Printed with no issues. The only thing is there is an error above the nose, this can also be seen on other people's prints and there's a 10mm internal height difference between the 2 types, hopefully this doesn't affect function.

Sadly Australian Ben & Jerry's tubs are 458ml not the 473 the rest of the world get so the tub is very loose in this holder and moves around when you try to eat it
Hello, did you use .08 for layer height and Initial layer height? If I want to iron, what is your suggestion for the settings within that? I am using Bambu H2S. I used Variable Layer Height to smooth out the nose and it worked beautifully, but that didn't work with the big hoof pieces.
Printed for my S O and turned out great. Used a bit of fuzzy skin on the main body and tray to add some texture and hide layer lines. For the nose I used variable layer height but kept the original orientation.
Filaments used:
Overture matte PLA in chocolote for body, light brown for hoves and horns.
Anycubic PLA+ in black and white for eyes
Anycubic PLA pantone peach for nose
This was printed with a Bambu Lab P2S w/ AMS 2 Pro. The main body is Bambu PLA Matte Caramel. I love how it turned out as a gift for my highland cow-obsessed daughter!

How did you get the big hooves so smooth? I am using Bambu H2S. Tried many variations within Variable Layer Height and ironing, but nothing would smooth out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
this is probably due to shrinking of the internal flat surface shelf, but i am not sure, since it seems lower than the internal shelf....
if you used the 3mf file, its already optimized, if you used the STL do this:
-set internal solid infill pattern to Archimedian Chords
-add height range modifier, and slow down arround this area, so the layertime is somewhat smooth
I am going to try the 3mf file and see what happens but I think thats what I used for this one. How do I slow down around that area? I did look and it is the area of the internal shelf.
in the 3mf file i configured a height range modifier, at this area to slow down, so it prints more even.
when you slice it, select the layer-time view from the dropdown window (where you see how much filament is used) and check if you have a smooth transition in the are, or great differnces

ok, in the preview tab in bambustudio
under slicing results --> Color Scheme --> select Layertime
this gives you a visual representation, how long each layer takes to print via colours.
you want gradient smooth colors, no sudden jumps. Those sudden jumps are usually visable on the print itself as well.
so via the height range modifier, you can influence how long the printer takes for each layer.
but it should already be applied in the 3mf file

My daughter and me just love your designs and have printed a few so far (Frodrick, Flexi Panda, Cuddles, Kevin, Owlfonso, Dino Piggy Banks and a few more) The prints always turn out great using Orca Slicer and a K1 MAX, still very new to 3d printing and thought i'd ask a quick question, its no fault of the model but just wondered if you know what is causing the issue under the handle, i have attached a photo. I've printed with and without supports, slowed it down, had fans on and off. Thanks
The rougher underside of the handle is because it's an overhang. Something to be expected, depending on filament, cooling & layerheight.
To mitigate this, you would need to slow down the overhang print speed, set cooling to 100% and maybe even print at a 0.12mm layerheight.

yes, you can play with height range modifiers and reduce the speed.
the main issue is, that the overhang for the drawer prints slower, so if you reduce the speeds of the sectiosn above and below you can smooth it out

if i may... ferdinands eyes, should be improved to match the other Pints.. not only doesn't have the slot orientation, but they don't sit flushed.. I bought the design a couple of days ago. Other than that, so far is beautiful although haven't printed all the parts yet, waiting on filament.
I used functionality of PrusaSlicer to make a smooth nose... I adjusted the print orientation as shown in the attached images, smoothed out the curves using variable layer height, set a raft, and used grid supports that I painted onto the surface areas which wouldn't show on the visible areas of the nose.
Very nice model, but is there an option to get the version with the drawer as two separate files? My print area is too small to print both together. I would like to have it with the drawer, though.
Good Morning, I am trying to print the bigger hooves and I cannot get them to print smooth at all. I have done all options I know of using Variable Layer Height and nothing gets better. I used the same settings on the nose and it smoothed out beautifully. Any suggestions you can send along a.s.a.p. would be most helpful.
The file has a fault that needs to be fixed. The base of the cow does not fix to the walls correctly and parts away from each other, possibly needs more base layers to attach to. But everything else printed nicely.
I was able to print one set of eyes for the cow and now when i try it, it stops right when it starts. I have an adventurer 5 M. I had no issues last night but now it wont let me print them.

Hello! When I looked at the README file, it says 5.5 hrs. I am printing on Bambu Lab A1 with AMS and it is saying a little over 24 hrs. Is this correct?
I couldn't get the eyes to print in the multicolor. Not sure why. Using Bambu Lab PS1 and bambu studios. I'm not new to printing, but new to Bambu studio so could be a me issue, but when loading importing the file I only get the filament option for 1 color, no matter how many times or ways I tried it. Couldn't add in a filament in a way that worked. If anyone has tips, that would be lovely. Thanks!
Hello! I have printed the .stl with the drawer at 0.20mm layer height, but the drawer seems to barely click in... so if it is put on almost any angle, it just falls out... Is this expected? Or did I miss a print setting? Given the small bumps and clips on the drawer, I assumed it was supposed to have a little resistance? Thank you!
yes, it should click into place, but depending on filament it changes quite drastically.
you can scale the drawer up by 1% in X and Y (to 101%) and reprint it.

Thangs wouldn’t let me comment until I subscribed for at least the bottom tier and I don’t see that version available. So basically only subscribed for your cute ice cream cups for my wife and I.
we'll make a ninja creami version in the future, but it needs to be desinged from scratch, since the size and form is different, we tried adapting , but it didnt look right.

use the 3_highlandcow_details_singlecolor_eyes_raised.3mf file, this can be printed on any machine, it has a pause configured, so you can manuall change color to white.
or you just print it in black, and color the raised pupils with sharpie
yes, Ferdinand is also missing the better Eyes, with the Alignment. We are working on it. i cant gurantee, when we update it, since i need to testprint both versions, to make sure, everything is fine.

I just subscribed and downloaded, is there an AMS version somewhere that I'm not seeing? I saw that it said single color model but I guess I thought that meant we would get both versions, not just the multi-part glue-together option. Really disappointing if there isn't a full version that doesn't need to be glued, I absolutely hate glueing things together which is why I own an AMS unit.

no right now, its only a single color version, since the majority of people still has single color printers, and we are ourselves not big fans of the huge waste the multiplexing system creates.
That said, there is the option to assemble it in the slicer
I don't know if I missed it but do you have this as multi-color print like you do with the penguin? All good if you don't, it's just sometimes i like having one or two that is solid and without gaps from gluing
you open 3_highlandcow_details_singlecolor_eyes_raised.3mf and press slice (it has already the Layerchange preconfigured)
this will print till Layer 23 (4.6mm) in one color, then it will pause the printer, and ask you to swap filament.
you insert the white filament into the printer and feed it into the toolhead, and press continue, it will continiue printing with white
given your 3d printer supports a filament swap (all bambu machines do, or it has M600 – Filament Change configured)

Usually i recommend only using the provided 3mf files, since the settings and coloring is already applied.
I'm now on my fifth print of these guys. Every single one of my friends wants one. I did get asked if there might be a cat in the future but I told them that wasnt up to me lol. Thank you for this awesome file.
I love the outcome of the holder. For some reason though, the drawer does not click in on the low resolution model. It goes in and just slides right back out, it won't latch. Any one else have this problem?
i've updated the geometry for the Low_Res Model (5_highlandcow_LOWER_RES_v2.3mf), so this one clicks also now ( i've testprinted it in bambulab matte pla)
Can you make a version for the ninja creami (473ml) cups, pls?
The dimensions should be 32.7 cm (circumference) at the top, 31.6 cm (circumference) at the bottom, and 10.9 cm in height. I tried printing Ferdinand at 109.5% scale (after testing by cutting off the upper layers and trying different scales), and this allows the upper part to reach the edge of the cup. Unfortunately, however, the bevel in Ferdinand is too steep.
Having an issue with "Processing model...with more than 1M triangles could be slow. Recommend simplifying model". Crashes my slicer. Tried latest versions of Creality Print (my preferred), Orca Slicer, and Bambu Slicer. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.
i just downloaded creality slicer and loaded the 3mf file, and i could slice it in 30s without issue.
the info msg: 1M triangles... can be ignored, if you try to simplify the model, it will freeze the PC.
If you still having troubles, let me know which version you want to print, and we will upload a lower-Res version, which should also work for older PCs.

I wish it let me separate the pieces onto different plates. I wanted to print on an A1mini but it will not let me separate the body from the drawer like the penguin does.
Have you thought about using fuzzy skin on the exterior? I was going to try, but it's putting it in the sockets (eyes, hands, feet, nose), and I'm not sure those piece will still fit well.

What dimensions do you need and I will get these for you.
best case would be a exact cad model (STEP file) so the diamter of the bottom, the diameter of the top, the height, where the LIP starts.
If you are up to it, and have a digital caliper, let me know, i'll give you exact details, if you are not comfortable with creating a CAD model

Hi, you need to paint the dots yourself if you use the STL file highly recommend using orca slicer and the 3mf
or you use the single color file, and change the filament to white for the last few layers
What glue is everyone using? What do you find is the best?
if you can get your hands on some 3dgloop we highly recommend this, other than that any gel type superglue also works well !

nah, but you can cut off the handle in the slicer with the Cut tool, or with rightclick and add negative part

I figured it out. It was operator error lol. I forgot to put the G code in place. I'll post a picture with my heard once I get them all printed out.

the 5.5 h is for the singlecolor print! if you print multicolor it needs much more time, this is correct!

I purchased the pattern but when I open it it's all stuck together the goens and goods are attached and the cow has the tray inside of it....help

did you use the 3mf file or STL ? the STL files dont contain any color information, and must be painted by the user.

I just subscribed and downloaded, is there an AMS version somewhere that I'm not seeing? I saw that it said single color model but I guess I thought that meant we would get both versions, not just the multi-part glue-together option. Really disappointing if there isn't a full version that doesn't need to be glued, I absolutely hate glueing things together which is why I own an AMS unit.
hi there! no right now, its only a single color version, since the majority of people still has single color printers, and we are ourselves not big fans of the huge waste the multiplexing system creates.
That said, there is the option to assemble it in the slicer

I don't know if I missed it but do you have this as multi-color print like you do with the penguin? All good if you don't, it's just sometimes i like having one or two that is solid and without gaps from gluing
no unfortunately we dont have the multicolor version right now, its on our ever growing todo list :D
How do you print the multicolor eyes? As in, is there a layer change where I switch filament?
you open 3_highlandcow_details_singlecolor_eyes_raised.3mf and press slice (it has already the Layerchange preconfigured)
this will print till Layer 23 (4.6mm) in one color, then it will pause the printer, and ask you to swap filament. you insert the white filament into the printer and feed it into the toolhead, and press continue, it will continiue printing with white
given your 3d printer supports a filament swap (all bambu machines do, or it has M600 – Filament Change configured)

Hi, I uploaded the STLs as seperate files again. Usually i recommend only using the provided 3mf files, since the settings and coloring is already applied.
I'm now on my fifth print of these guys. Every single one of my friends wants one. I did get asked if there might be a cat in the future but I told them that wasnt up to me lol. Thank you for this awesome file.

please use Bambustudio or OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer to open the files. Then you rightclick on the Model and press "Export as STL"
you can still use Ultimaker or Flashforge to slice the model, if you prefer, but you need to use one of the above slicers to export it as STL.
generally i recommend to use the 3mf, since it has all the color data, and slicing settings already applied.

I love the outcome of the holder. For some reason though, the drawer does not click in on the low resolution model. It goes in and just slides right back out, it won't latch. Any one else have this problem?

i've updated the geometry for the Low_Res Model (5_highlandcow_LOWER_RES_v2.3mf), so this one clicks also now ( i've testprinted it in bambulab matte pla)

Can you make a version for the ninja creami (473ml) cups, pls? The dimensions should be 32.7 cm (circumference) at the top, 31.6 cm (circumference) at the bottom, and 10.9 cm in height. I tried printing Ferdinand at 109.5% scale (after testing by cutting off the upper layers and trying different scales), and this allows the upper part to reach the edge of the cup. Unfortunately, however, the bevel in Ferdinand is too steep.

i used tree supports in Bambustudio tree(auto) treshhold angle: 30 on buildplate only support ciritical regions only remove small overhangs
Having an issue with "Processing model...with more than 1M triangles could be slow. Recommend simplifying model". Crashes my slicer. Tried latest versions of Creality Print (my preferred), Orca Slicer, and Bambu Slicer. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.
I have the same message and the printer I'm trying to send sliced file to has frozen and I cannot seem to delete its memory of this to unfreeze.

i just downloaded creality slicer and loaded the 3mf file, and i could slice it in 30s without issue. the info msg: 1M triangles... can be ignored, if you try to simplify the model, it will freeze the PC.
If you still having troubles, let me know which version you want to print, and we will upload a lower-Res version, which should also work for older PCs.

nah, your setup is better than mine, should be capable of slicing.
can you just try to slice it, (and do not press simplify) leave it as it is ?
if this doesnt work, let me know, which version you need (with drawer or without)

I wish it let me separate the pieces onto different plates. I wanted to print on an A1mini but it will not let me separate the body from the drawer like the penguin does.

Have you thought about using fuzzy skin on the exterior? I was going to try, but it's putting it in the sockets (eyes, hands, feet, nose), and I'm not sure those piece will still fit well.
thats a great idea, once i have recieved my filament i'll try it :) you can try Paint On Fuzzy skin ( i think its available in Orca Slicer)
