A collection of original sci-fi robot models of various styles. Models have both print in place no supports options, which look great in natural materials and single object .stl files for scaled printing in resin and painting.

Steampunk Jumping Spider comes in 2 formats: a scalable static .stl and a no supports, print in place, articulated model; allowing the model to be printed as a single object table top miniature or a articulated model which prints flat and unsupported then folds easily into its final shape.

The steampunk sci-fi genre, which employs advanced re-imagination of 19th century technology, was an inspiration for this model which is supposed to be a steam powered and mechanically controlled spider based on complex gear arrangements. 
The model is suitable as a toy, a tabletop miniature, decoration, gift.  

The download includes 3 design variations of the model:
1. Standard eyes (eyes are spherical with no patterns, they can be directly printed in colour if required)
2. 8mm recess for glass eye beads (glass eye beads can be easily purchased online with 8mm being a popular standard diameter, the choice of different styles of eye will allow you to customize your creation)
3. Cartoon eyes (patterns printed on standard spherical eyes allowing colour printing or easy painting)

Model files are provided in .3mf, .stl and .step formats.

Material use = approx. 70 grams
Print time = approx. 9 hours (Bambu P1P)

Steampunk Spider

Robot Spider is a print in place, no supports articulated model featuring mid and lower leg latching hinge joints, ball hinge hip joints and latching upper pedipalps hinge joints. The model will freely stand on its legs without collapsing.

Included are .stl and .3mf of articulated model and a scalable static .stl version

The idea of the model is of a robotic spider similar to the size of a large real spider which could possibly be programmed for rodent control.

I would recommend using PLA+ as it will be a bit more reliable for the latching joints, however I have tested in regular PLA and it will work; make sure you use best printing practice, dry filament, check temperatures etc.

Gradient filaments look good with this model, as the material layers with the legs have a much higher material volume than the upper body; this results in a faster colour transition across the legs than across the body and abdomen.

Steampunk Orb Spider is an articulated, print in place, no supports model inspired by the Steampunk Sci-Fi Genre. 
The model is assembled from the 3d printed body and some additional parts, consisting of:
2 x 8 mm (or 5/16") diameter balls for large eyes
4 x 4 mm (or 5/32") diameter balls for medium eyes
2 x 2.5 mm (or 0.1") diameter balls for small eyes
1 x 40 mm (or 1.6") diameter ball for Orb in abdomen
In my example prints I have used silicon nitride ceramic ball bearings for the eyes, you could also use metal, glass, crystal alternatives which are all widely available in the common standard sizes as specified. I have used a fracture effect crystal for the orb in the abdomen, there are many alternatives available, with this common 40 mm diameter, such as different styles of crystals, marbles, glow in the dark balls etc.
The illustrated examples are in one case made from Triple colour silk PLA+ (Gold, Bronze, Silver) and in the other example printed in black PLA+ then finished with antique gold and silver gilding wax.

The model is provided in .STL and .3mf Formats
I would recommend 0.08mm layer height (or the best your printer can offer) as this will really benefit the high density of detail in this model.
