This gift box looks like a stylized Christmas tree, but when you pull out the top, the sides collapse, revealing the gift inside. Unlike my previous Collapsing Gift Box, this one needs a special Sproinger component (yes, that's the technical term) to spring the sides because they are facing inwards and can't fall on their own.

See it in action here: https://youtube.com/shorts/b2cpJMLDndU

All parts print without supports. After printing the Tree Box, carefully pry the hinges loose of any fused spots. You may need to wiggle the box walls for a while to loosen them enough for them to tip and fall easily on their own, especially if you're using a glitter filament. You can also try applying some silicone lubricant to the hinges to help things along.

Print the Sproinger in PETG so the sproinginess lasts.

There are notches in the Top Cap that match with the lids when closed, and I recommend wrapping a nice ribbon around it to secure the cap in place... Depending on the filaments used, the sproinger might be strong enough to overcome the friction of the cap and the lids and execute the surprise prematurely. 😅 Besides, a ribbon makes it look extra nice, as you can see in the pictures!
