Two series in one!

This is my new planter design that incorporates a lot of 3d scans. I wanted to do a tree trunk planter again for a while and decided to go out and find a nice trunk for this project. I strolled through several forests and scanned about 5 candidates. I lined them all up in blender and decided for “Carpinus Betulus”. Kind of again since I used this species already for other projects like the tree vase. I really like their trunk details with all the texture and everything else that is going on there.

I finally could make use of all the tinder mushroom “Fomes Fomentarius” that I had scanned over the last year. I had quite a few that did not make it into the lamp or shelf design.

Back at home I only slightly edited the tree scan to get tiny details printable. I used the same process that I made up for the pasta planter to turn this into a planter with hidden drip tray. To get the mushrooms on there I made little nudges as a positioning helper, so you don’t have to puzzle it all together.

The print is super easy, as always supportless and the multi-color option for the mushrooms use only very few color changes, so little waste.
