Since I am getting old, I just got my first glasses. The case they gave me with them was really bad, hard to open and overall, not the most functional. So, I decided to make a really good one. While I have designed glasses cases in the past, they were primarily for sunglasses – with this one I took a lot of care and time to make it right for expensive glasses that are more important.
The closing mechanism is awesome, I recommend checking out the videos on my socials. The inner lining is TPU, meaning your glasses won’t scratch and get a little dampening if you drop the case. It used a simple filament hinge and overall, the print is very easy and beginner friendly. Yes, you need TPU filament, but the actual print can’t be simpler. I used my old reliable 10x2 mm magnets and with a little glue you are ready to go. It sounds more than it is. The assembly and creation process is super straight forward and easy.
I have used this design now for a little and I love this, I think mechanically this comes close to my notebook design, it just works really good and I printed tons of prototypes to optimize it. I showed it to my dad and some other people who also wear glasses and they all loved it! So, I recommend you give this a go!
