Not only is this a super useful and well thought out product, I really like the design. The lines are smooth, the ability to have dual-color really makes it really pop. Thank you!
Printed this on new Bamboo lab P2S printer and the build looks good, but there are a few things that needs improvement.
Right now, the model cannot be lifted without the top and bottom parts separating. I wish there was a way to hold these parts together. I'm new to 3D printing and have 0 skills to modify it. But got some ideas how we can do it.
Thanks for the feedback! Yes the design is currently not intended for carrying around since I prioritized a quick take off for easier tangle fixing! I wrote that down though and will see if I can get both things done!
Agreed! I like to grab and move my paper towel holder sometimes, especially if I want to bring it to where I'm cleaning up, or move it out of the way while cleaning countertops.
Thanks for the C version of the holder with the adapter. Now the paper fits perfectly.
// To prevent the towel from twisting when pulling at an unoptimal angle, I wrapped the adapter with a single layer of masking tape.
Looks good, but has some design flaws:
- Parts do not lock, so it's impossible to carry.
- If your roll does not have the exact measures this was designed to hold, good luck getting a single sheet. You'll have to fiddle your way into the top to hold the roll.
If the license allows, I would probably modify this to include a click system between the two halves and a compliant clutch so you can lock the roll when applying pressure to cut a sheet.
Hi there thanks for the feedback! What the diameter of the inside of your rolls? So I can add another thickness to the lower inner part! Also I will write down the idea to lock the parts together, although I prefer it to open quickly so you can fix a tangle, maybe there is a way to get both!
Agree, some form of locking/engaging feature would be great. I want to mount mine horizontally and feel it likely won't work at the moment (about to start printing, so not sure yet).
I ran into a problem with your model when I printed the 150mm W 260mm H it doesent fit american rolls in height. The 280mm model works in heighth but not in width. If it is possible to make a model that is 250mm by 280mm thet would fit american jumbo rolls.
Product easily falls apart. Just a suggestion, make the top back part of the outer shell into a clasp and change the center post to lock-in both halves; this will make it more solid. Also, make the feet screw-in so that it becomes a tool-less product.
I printed the US Costco: 150 × 290 version and tested it with Bounty paper towel rolls from Costco. The fit seems a bit loose, as the roll is slightly taller than the printed holder (see photo). Just wanted to share this in case it’s helpful for sizing adjustments.
Hello! I bought the model and wanted to print but cant figure out if the size will work for me as my paper towel roll is 230 mm in height should i choose 260? Or its not gonna work properly?
I have a lot on my table right now with some other designs requiring my attention, maybe in the future but right now i cant promise anything :( I have already dumped a boat load of time into making additional versions for this, so right now theres more urgent stuff to work on
I really love this design and ive printed it twice in 2 sizes. However I find the top half always has a wobble to it and struggles to stay in place. I printed it out of abs, and this same wobble doesn't seem to be present in the videos, im not sure what im doing wrong.
hmmm did you print it in a open or closed printer? It is winter and a cold room often leads to some deformation during the print due to rapid cooling without enclosure.
Very nice print, but is it possible to get the version 1 print from the top window like it's on the photos. I find this look more appealing than the new one.
Hi, this is a clean design. Can you make a model for towel sizes 120mm x 220mm. To hold the parts together, you can borrow the tongue and groove joint from woodworking. A small tongue on the upper part and a small groove on the lower part that then click in place can work. To remove it, some pressure on the top part will free the parts.
Hey @Gazzaladra. Is there any way you could add another size / help me modify it to fit our rolls?
OD (outer diameter): 210mm
ID (inner diameter): 5.5-5.6mm
Height: 230mm
For now, I tried scaling the 150_260 version in X and Y directions to 140% (210/150=1.4), but I'm not really sure this would work out and the ID might be a tight fit. I don't want to lose close to 24hrs of print and lots of materials if you could help me plan in advance :) Thanks a lot!
At a diameter of 210 i am not very confident that the construction will hold up... Seeing that the new 150 version already is the edge of the grip due to the bigger lever. If you still wanna try please join the discord so i can make you a version to test out!

I just updated the files to have a adapter for bigger inner diameters!
You mean 280 height and 150 width? I am making a few more sizes this week and this one is one the list!
thank you

Please add for dimension: 150m diameter x 180mm height, with inner diameter 60mm. Thank you.
Can you make a 110x210 version ? In Belgium my paper towel roll are those dimensions :)

Hmmm I think there should be no issue! Since the roll is attached at the bottom
So the towel roll should not be longer otherwise it wont fit in there right? But can be shorter ? Just making sure wont waste the filament
Yes smaller should always work, as least I can't think of a reason why not
I have a roll 100x220 and off course i didn't look at the diameters befor i bout the files. Hope you make more diameters in the future

for some reason the top stops printing with 59 minutes left

seems like most UK rolls are 230 tall rather than the EU 260 tall, would you consider making yet another height?

Started printing it but I noticed some parts are easily breakable. Printing these on a X1 Carbon.
Really nice Design... BUT... 444,59g for 1 Print? And a purchase price from $4,00?
Shame on you
American Costco rolls are 285mm tall. Would be great to have a print set for just a little taller.
Or maybe an insert to add a few millimeters though that might turnout too wiggly as the parts don't hold together as it is.
Hi there would a 290mm high version be on the safe side for that?
I'm in Canada and Costco Canada sells the roll that are 150mm diameter, but 280mm tall. I would appreciate something similar
I can do that! - i am currectly cooking up additional sizs and will add that, hopefully this week

Is it possible to get a model for rolls that are 130mm circumference and 210mm tall? This seems to be the size of Australian rolls.
Hi there, I think I can do that, could you join the discord and sent me some more details like the inner roll diameter? So I can get it right
