It’s a great idea and it printed so well. I need it to be about 12mm more for my glasses though as it just pushes too tight into them and then the mechanism doesn’t work as it should
Happy Accident! Mis-judged how much black sparkly PLA I had, so had to swap to Purple midway thru. Looks great!
I used TPU for the inlay. Printed on K1-max in < 3 hours.
Ideally, if it were larger in depth by about another 10mm to 37mm so that my glasses wouldn't be squashed , it would be a great fit for my glasses and still be slim enough for the front jeans pocket.
Is there a trick to cleaning the hinges? Mine came out blocked, there's a little loop of filament in each. I can easily clean out the outer ones with a hot screwdriver, but not the inner ones, for obvious reasons and so I cannot thread the filament through.
No, supports aren't on. The print just came out a little sloppy. But there has to be some way to safe it, I don't want to reprint it again, since it looks just fine.
The outer case printed great. I have never printed TPU and am having issues with the print. I have a drier and modified settings to match the filament suggestions (creality 95a). It seems to print the base fine, but consequent layers get thin and stringy and at some point, it doesn't appear to have any filament coming out of the hot end. The head just moves around like it's printing, with nothing coming out. Any suggestions?
ye, fair enough, my idea was to just add a pin on both side that you can glue so that the ugly filament doesn't show up. Anyway amazing piece of design great work.
Works great! My only problem is that the magnets I bought don't seem to be quite strong enough. Do you know where's a good place to buy high quality magnets?
Yes this can be weird sometimes: check listings for their rates strength! Something like N35. Neodymium magnets have a rating scale. Maybe Google that and look for ratings!
Hey,
I think I do something wrong ^^, when I open the 3mf I get 2 same Cover (Bottom / top). nowhere an hole for the pin und Magnethole in both cover. (size 160/60/21)
Similar to many other comments, significantly too small for my glasses. Need more like 160 mm for the internal length and more depth. Very keen to get more sizes in this model - it was my motivation to subscribe to your store.
Is the hinge grinding or stuck? If so maybe there is a print issue? If you want me to have a look at it please post a image in the print help channel in the discord!
Love this design and printed great. I have several other pairs that have significantly larger frames. Can you post another profile with the same magnets but a larger space for the glasses, please? Thanks
Hi Johannes, nice design. I love it! Would it be possible to send me or post a version, that is a little bit higher. My glasses need a height of 26 mm inside (for not to squeeze them too much).
Hi there, I always use 10x2 - so for consistency and since this assembly is based a lot around the size and strength of the magnets I am afraid I can't make a version for that.
This is actually a great design! I love it! Do you also have a size bigger for Rayban aviator sunglasses? If I scale up the magnets and hinge filament wouldn't fit anymore.
The glasses are exact 15 cm wide, at the most wide point, 6,3 cm high at the highest point of the glass and the thickest is 2,5 cm. Note: these are exact measurements of the glasses. Would this work?
Love this!!! Can you add compatibility with other sized magnets? They've been hard to track down lately so the only 10mm I have are too thick. Maybe an option for 8mm?

Four new versions with increased depth have been added, more coming soon! Thanks for the input!
Great design! Too bad it doesn't fit my glasses. A 50% increase in depth would've been perfect. Looking forward for an XL version!

Great design and was looking forward to using it but it needs to be larger, to at least 37mm. Mine don't fit
Thanks for the input! 37 seems to be quite common!
When will the new version be available?
Now :)
Great design and nice in the pocket at well.

Thanks for the measurements, size updates coming soon!

another data point for the XL version. mine are 35mm
Thank you!

Fantastic design - just finished printing, but I need it to be a bit deeper.
On my side, it needs 30 mm internal depth so the lid can close without squashing the glasses down.
30 mm, noted! Will soon have enough data points for a second or more versions! Thank you

Disable support! This design does not require any - so your slicer might have placed it.

Any chance a model for a large fitover can be made? Size is 170mm x 70mm x 70mm

can i have the fusion files cuz i wanna change the parameters myself so it fits other sizes cuz right now it doesn't fit
Do you also have a 160 X 50 serie?
only those sizes in the descriptin are availble!
Love it... will use it for all my glasses but might need one more size though, the 160 x 60 x 50 (or 55) for my Oakley wrap around sunglasses.
Amazing design, but i would love to not have a filament piece as hinge. It is possible to have the cad file, thanks.
Unfortunately I so not share source files

Let me check that file out, there's so many maybe I fucked it up
yeah i messed up, is fixed now!

Done 5 new versions have been added!
i agree great design but needs to be deeper

How did you make the hinge work so smooth? I cant open it with one hand

Cool design for sure. Would also like to see a thicker (Z height) version to fit glasses with thicker frames.
Thicker in mm pls? :D
About 14mm higher than the original version. :)
Roughly 35mm hight inside.
Thank you!

I love the design too! But my glasses are way too thick =(. Are you able to make a deeper one? My glasses are 35mm thick. Thanks!
I wrote it down and will report back soon, currently collecting more data to make more sizes!

a one for 12x2 magnets would be great, still a great model though, by far one of the coolest things i have seen that you can 3D print

Which exactly size would you need? If you can give me measurements I can see what I can do to make an xl version!
