how do i print the dirt base without a pot printing with it?. seems this file is wrong, i just want the dirt base not the pot included

Joshua K

It appears you can download "mesh tools" for Cura and separate the dirt base from the pot that way, or if you have Blender3D you can import the stl file, select it, go into edit mode with [TAB], then select only the dirt base mesh by hovering your cursor over it and pressing [L], then press [P] to separate by selection. Tab out of edit mode, de-select the pot but keep the dirt selected, go to Edit>export>.stl and from there check "selection only" and just name your file and pick a location.

This issue has been fixed!

what filament did you use for the pot and "dirt"?

Colby G
ForgeCore

I used Geetech Matte Orange Pla for the pot and Overture Matte Dark Brown for the dirt

What size terracotta pot would fit the "plant" and "dirt"? I am running out of the filament and I was wondering if I could use a stardard terracotta pot.

Colby G
ForgeCore

The pot would have to be a little over 4" on the internal diameter to fit the 'dirt' base.

Kimberley H

Hello, No matter what I do or what filament I use this plant does not like me. Some of the Big leaves dit but the small ones in combination with the pins no way. I used different filament, different settings, your settings, am I the only one?

HI! I'm sorry to hear you are having adhesion issues with the print. This print does required very good bed adhesion, so I would suggest making sure you clean your build plate with dish soap and warm water, to make sure it is clean and free from any oils. Also, be sure that your filament is calibrated. If you are using a bambu labs printer, make sure your flow rate calibration is turned on.

I printed 2 of these. My pins came today so I tried to put it together. The pin holders do not fit into the leaf.

Colby G
ForgeCore

They are press-fit, so make sure you are applying lots of pressure to get them to snap in. It can be useful to use a pair of pliers to hold the pin, and press them in

I'm having a heck of a Time printing the leaves / pin part. No matter what I do the print fails halfway through the first layer. I have no issues printing other things even small parts but he's just will not stick. Anybody have any advice on what I could be doing wrong?

Colby G
ForgeCore

As always, make sure you clean your bed with soap and water first. Then use a thin layers of glue.

You can also try testing just a single leaf at a time by splitting the objects to parts

I’m not able to fit the leaves onto the body of the plant. Has anyone had luck with either scaling down the leaves or scaling up the plant to fix this?

Colby G
ForgeCore

You can try scaling your leaves up by 1%. Although it sounds like maybe your filament flow rate needs to be calibrated.

If you're using a bambu printer just make sure you have flow rate calibration enabled.

hey, i really want to make this but the pins are unavailable. is there another brand?

Colby G

Search for Size 8 Sequin Pins, you should find something that works

I wonder if we can do this model without the pins. Have anyone done it?

Hi, I still seem to be having an issue loading these into my printer software... it claims the files are too small and unable to load.

Colby G
ForgeCore

can you open the 3mf file? What slicer are you using?

K
KristinaHughes

I'm using the DigiLab Dremel software. I tried opening the 3mf file and it won't even acknowledge it.

Colby G
ForgeCore

Ahh i see, They are scaled correctly so its strange its not opening for you, although that software is not commonly used because its not the best.

If the software is really an issue, the work around would be to download Bambu Slicer, open the 3mf file, and then click File > Export > Export >Export all objects as on STL. Then you should be able to import that into your slicer.

Sorry about the annoying work around. But that slicer is known for having issues

K
KristinaHughes

I'll try it out... thank you for the suggestion!

Hey is it possible to zipped files in a map? So we don't need to make a map before extracting them somewhere. Thank you

Colby G

in a map? Not familiar with that

bought size 8 pins but the plug is way too big to hold the pins

Mikayla F

I used some glue to keep the pin in place on the plugs

when i slice the Small & Big Stem there seems to be a section missing once Sliced, i didnt notise at first only halway thourgh the print, is this normal, Layer height set at one from image 0.12

Colby G
ForgeCore

There is a gap inside of the stem where the pin goes, any other missing section should not be present
