Arcane Animus - Time to make some character models!
I've got a lot of the creatures for Animus to a point where I'm happy with them, so I figured it's time to start working on characters, weapons and the like.
This here is Smokey, head of the Ironspire military. He wears a modified mining armor set with powerful elemental gems, and uses the latest and greatest in weapons tech - a railgun powered by magnetic elemental gems, a flamethrower, and a cartridge fired rifle (extremely rare in universe!). Weapons may or may not be to scale, haven't decided yet.
Here's a shot of what the miners in Arcane Animus wear in hazardous zones - as you can see, the pack on the rear is much larger, and it has only air elemental gems set for cooling/air filtration.
The textures were all done with Meshy, and I've actually done some work on rigging Smokey in Blender so he can be posed for miniatures. Meshy does offer rigging, but it's simplistic and sometimes grabs nearby geometry, which is why I decided to go the manual route.
Of course, it didn't initially occur to me that a fully armored character like this would deform in unfortunate ways when rigged traditionally, but as the saying goes, "Good enough for government work."
I've got a couple of other characters being worked on now, plus I'm working on rigging some of the creatures to give them dynamic poses for the miniatures. I may do some fun renders when all is said and done.
Anyway, have a good weekend folks!
