Behind the Scenes – Splitting & Surface Tests
One of the most time-consuming parts of creating multipart figures is preparing them for assembly.
Right now, we’re in the middle of splitting the model into separate parts. It’s a very routine and detail-heavy stage, but also one of the most important. A well-prepared model is much easier to print, assemble, and even customize later.
During this process, we also experimented with surface texture.
The idea was to break up large smooth areas to help hide visible layer lines after printing. By adding subtle texture, the final result looks cleaner and more natural, especially on FDM prints.
However, after testing different variations, we decided to reduce the intensity of the texture in the final version. This gave us a better balance between visual detail and clean, reliable printing.
