Christmas is coming and the first model is here - The Grinch Lantern Holder!

Two years ago I released The Grinch Hand Wall Mount which you guys absolutely loved and I wanted to do another Grinch inspired Christmas decor and this idea seemed perfect! The model is completely multipart so no AMS, or any other multicolor system is required here.

Printing:

  • The Grinch hand requires supports so make sure you enable them, The support marks will be on the internal side of the hand so no scarring will be visible on the model.
  • The cuff requires some supports as well (although it will be ok without as well)
  • The lantern could do with some small supports for the lower edges but it will also work without them.
  • All other parts do not require supports
  • There are 2 lantern variations, the _Detailed one can be used with Rub-n-Buff to enhance the details and give that cool damaged metallic feeling.
  • Lanterns have place on top to insert 4 shaders, Print as is for one layer thickness and stretch on z axis if you want them thicker.

Assembly:

  • The hand goes inside the cuff and both into the sleeve - It's aligned without any effort but you might want to use some glue so it all sticks together nicely.
  • Push 4 shade insets on top of the lantern (optional)
  • Place the snow on top of the lantern (optional)
  • Insert the ring into the hole on top of the lantern and then squeeze it into the hand.
  • Hang on wall 🙂

What light is everyone using? I was going to use a tea light but don't see an easy way to get it in and out, unless I leave 1 of the 4 shades off, or maybe use a light that has a remote?

You can release one if you push the snow up but I know it's not that practical - I'm releasing another version over the weekend that will have a threaded insert from below for easy light replacement

Yeah, I thought about that too. Perhaps I'll just reprint the new version when you release. Do you know if redownloading takes from my monthly download number or no since I technically already downloaded and this would just be a modification?

No it should not count against your monthly quota

Do you know what the total print time is for this?

It really depends on the printer brand, type and settings - layer height, infill, walls etc..
